This past week, McQuaid competed in Section V's Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted at Nazareth University. While pre-meet projections predicted a "middle of the pack" finish for the Black & Gold; McQuaid rose to the occasion, scoring 58 points and earning third place at the Class A2 Championships.
The Knights put together a full-team effort, scoring points in 9 different events.
Ian Lanahan, '27,
Chase Kurz, '27, and
James Malvaso, '27 all scored in the 600m, with Lanahan racing to a time of 1:25.9 and a first place finish! Malvaso was also a top finisher in the 55m Hurdles, one of only two McQuaid athletes to score points in two different individual events.
Off the track, McQuaid's jumpers secured crucial points for the team.
Landon Ray, '27 earned a 4th place finish in the Triple Jump and
Jake Meszler, '29 posted a mark of 5'4" in the High Jump scoring in 6th place.
The season continues for some, with Sectional performances earning them a spot in the State Qualifier Meet this weekend.
Colby Coon, '27 will compete against the area's top middle-distance runners in the 1000m race. McQuaid's 4x400m Relay has the second fastest time in Section V to this point, but they'll need to bring their best on Saturday if they hope to clinch a spot in the New York State Indoor Track & Field Championships (3/6).
