Modified Monday Roundup - May 11

Here's a recap of last week's McQuaid modified sports teams.
This feature will run every Monday throughout the spring season.

Baseball
Mother Nature continued to wreak havoc on the season, with all games postponed by
rain last week.

Crew
The boys novice 8 finished 13th overall at NYS championships in Saratoga on Sunday.
That boat featured coxswain Sebastian Tirre, '31, stroke seat Miller Dall, '30, 3 seat Ben
Barenys, '30, 2 seat Lee Abbott, '31, and bow seat Dominick DiVasto, '30. This was the first race for
all except Dall and Barenys.  "They improved their time from the morning time trial to the
afternoon final holding their ranking at 13 despite windy conditions, so I was very
pleased," head coach Jon Covney, '06 says. Also Sunday, Senan Fleming, '30, coxed a JV 4
to a 12th place out of 27 total boats. "Now that they all have a race under their belt and
got to experience a full regatta, they're happy and excited to race again," Covney says.

Lacrosse
The Knights suffered a pair of tough losses last week, falling 7-5 to Haverling and 4-3 to
Hilton. In the Haverling game, Jason Leusch, '30, netted two goals while Colin Koecheler, '31,
Jax Odenbach, '31, and Bobby Gerstner, '31 each scored one. Against Hilton, Odenbach led the
way with three goals and four ground balls, while Eli Sanchez, '30 recorded four ground
balls land one assist. "Our Knights had a great week of competing, but sadly fell in both
games," head coach Chad Anderson said. "We're looking forward to getting back at it
this week." The Knights host Hilton on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Rugby
The Knights went 2-1 on the week, beating Fairport 3 tries to 2 and Grand Island 6 tries
to 3 while losing to Kenmore 8 tries to 0. Top individual performances included eighth
graders Logan Hungate (2 try assists, and his first try), Bobby Carpenter (15 tackles),
and Chris Lyle (5 turnovers, 4 try assists). "It was great to see the team really come
together this weekend and show their chemistry with some great team performances,"
head coach Joe Damico, '24 says. Next up, the Knights will take part in a tournament in
Fairport this Sunday.
